Have you ever noticed that we hold to considerably harsh self-talk but extend grace towards others for the same flaws?
My friend Korey said it like this, “We don’t have the same rules for ourselves as we do for other people. We give them more grace.”
Let\’s take body image issues as an example. I don’t scrutinize other ladies’ arms or mid sections or size of their bossoms. (I do notice amazing fitness models and hope to be in that elite category one day…) Yet, I over think every outfit I choose and every photo or video I post online.
Just yesterday, I spent a few minutes considering re-recording our worship video. That shirt was not my most flattering choice. Seriously? Who cares? My shirt and waist or lack thereof is not the point of that video. So I did leave well enough alone and DID NOT re-record.
I know I\’m not alone…You may struggle with this too. Or maybe, for you, your negative self-talk is around a different issue.
Whatever you are beating yourself up about, let it go. Just stop. Let’s replace our self critical thoughts with loving thoughts.
No matter your shape or size. You are worthy of love.
Be thankful for your body. It gets you around.
Be well, my friend.
